About Us
OUR STORE HOURS: Sundays and Wednesdays through Fridays 11 am - 4 pm and Saturdays 10am-5pm. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Gary's Rock Shop was founded in 1992 by Gary Krause. In June 2015, long time employee, Stacie Anthony purchased the business from the Krauses as Gary was ready for retirement.
Stacie Anthony is not only familiar with the lapidary arts, but is also an accomplished silversmith and artist. She has exhibited her art and jewelry in shows throughout the US including the juried Wholesale Crafts show in Orlando, the juried wholesale Beckman Handmade Show at the merchandise mart in Chicago and The Seed, a juried environmental art exhibit in SOHO, NYC. Her jewelry work has been represented in stores along each coast. You can see a collection of her symbolic nature jewelry and watercolors, charcoal and pastel art/reproductions available in the shop.
Stacie does some rock collecting locally and throughout the United States with her family, and sometimes even joined by the Krauses, but most of our product comes from national and world wide wholesalers. These are the same trusted vendors that we have done business with since the creation of Gary's Rock Shop, ensuring the authenticity and ethical sourcing. We also buyout small to large collections which gives us access to some minerals and specimens that are rare and no longer available from mines or other collecting locations.
Stacie does some custom cutting and polishing in the shop, and custom jewelry design, with the entire staff creating beaded jewelry designs. Stacie teaches classes in the shop and takes geology and environmental presentations into the local schools and libraries. The shop is a "labor of love"... a love of the mysterious natural beauty, and scientific formation of the earth: stone, crystal, mineral and fossil.
Our Mission: "Gifted Earth"
- To celebrate the earth in all her beauty by offering one of a kind natural treasures created by earth.
- To share our enthusiasm and knowledge in the earth sciences and arts.
- To serve as a reminder that the earth is a precious gift to be protected and cherished by promoting environmentalism in our educational programs and daily business practices.
